July 17 through July 20th

Monday 16th We got to Jackpot, Nevada about 4 PM after a nice drive and picnic lunch on the way. We set up camp and took off to check out the town (casino's). Pammy called and said she found a package on the front porch of our house, it was supposed to be shipped to Jackpot. This is the first time we have had confusion with our shipping on the road. Pammy will ship the package to us to Jackpot, so I guess we will be here for a few more days.
Tuesday 17th The weather today is not very nice here today, there has been a lot of wind and rain and later in the afternoon, we had some small hailstones come down which we were fascinated with, as we don't see much of that in Oregon. (picture) Sharon showed Kent how to pick up the hail stones while they were coming down.
Friday 20th Across the camp ground in the school yard there is a firefighters camp with about 50 tents set up for the fire fighters and the workers who work behind the scenes unloading the trucks and sending out the supplies to the fields. They shower and eat in the school's facilities and everyday there is several semi trucks unloading supplies for the fire fighters. Most of the fighters stay out for days and don't come in very often. There are fire fighters form Minnesota, Michigan, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. We were quite surprised to see that a lot of them drive here in their own fire truck from the States they are from. We talked to a truck waiting to go out that come from St. Cloud, Minnesota. They said it took them 3 days to get here and they were receiving gov pay and pre'deum on the way. They had been waiting to go out on the line for about 9 hours. This from a layman's standpoint this looks like another waste of government spending. The lightening starts more fires everyday than they can possibly put out. One of the fires is about 3 miles from where we are staying and the sky is so dark most of the time. (Picture)
