September 20 & 21, 2007

Thursday 20th On our way to Metropolis, Illinois, we stopped to visit Kent's cousin, Olive and her husband Cliff Bloom. She has done the genealogy on her family and we really enjoyed seeing all the work she has done. She made Kent copies of her work for him to keep for his girls. They were a delightful couple and we really enjoyed our visit and the coconut creme pie she served us. We hope to see them again our next trip through Illinois for a longer visit. (pictures) We headed on to our next stop which is home of the famous "Superman", Metropolis, Illinois. (pictures)
Friday 21st We stayed in a state camp ground which was close to "Fort Massac" a reconstructed fort replica, including blockhouses, of one built in 1794. Actual reenactments of pioneer life of the 1700's were going on while we were there. Everyone was dressed for the period and actually lived the role for a week. It was so hot and humid, I don't know how they stood those clothes they wore and cooking over the open fires. (pictures)
