Saturday 19th~~~ Today was the annual walk for Multiple Sclerosis at Salem's Waterfront Park. Kent's doctor asked him if we would volunteer to hand out brochures at it. It was a cold, damp, drizzly day and we thought no one would show up to do the walk.It was chilly waiting for the walk to start, but the hot coffee, tea and chocolate to drink and rolls, fruit and muffins to eat made the wait pleasant. It was very interesting to see all the people with MS and hear their stories of how they deal with it. There were so many young people walking for a loved one, with their name on their shirt. We did the walk when it started and we enjoyed it very much. There were water stops along the way and the "Sub Shop" handed out sandwiches along the way with small drinks. We will do it again if we are home at that time.

This morning while Sharon was drinking her morning coffee looking out at the back yard, she saw a large possum wondering around her deck. ( picture) She immediately started screaming for Kent to hurry and come see it. We pounded on the windows and made lots of noise, as the dumb thing just kept wandering around. Kent got braver and decided to go out with the broom and chase it off. (picture) It wouldn't leave and it kept coming towards Kent who was as afraid of it as Sharon was. We decided to call animal control and have them come and get it, they informed us they don't do that sort of thing and they told us to just leave it alone and it will go away the same way it came. We didn't like that answer at all especially when all of a sudden there were 4 of them. We chose to leave our home for the morning, when we came home the family of possums had moved to another yard where the screaming woman and the crazy man with the broom didn't live.
