Today was Sharon's grandson Joel's graduation party from college, all of Sharon's family was there. They had a BBQ at Pam and Jeff's house and they had the back yard set up to play "beer pong". Table and chairs were set up for eating or observing. Those of you who haven't had the fun of playing beer pong, you set 2 banquet tables end to end and you rack 8 glasses (Eight ball style) at each end of the table, fill each glass 1/4 full of beer. There are two players at each end and the object is to toss a ping pong ball across the table into the glasses of beer. If the ball lands in a glass, the opponent has to drink the beer. The team who gets a ball in all of their glasses for the opponents to drink wins and challenges another team. The losers get to drink the beer while losing the game so they don't mind losing. We had so much fun playing the game we set up another table with the glasses holding wine for Joel's other grandma and pop for the minor kids. Grandma Sharon enjoyed losing and drinking the beer. Where is Sharon in these pictures???? OH !!!
she must be taking the pictures or passed out under the table. LOL They had a great BBQ dinner and we got to meet several of the twins college friends who had attended.

June 18 through the 27, 2008

Wednesday 18th~~~ We are home and everything looks great at the house. William had just mowed and had things looking great. The weather is cooler here, so we dug out our blue jeans to wear until it warms up. Tress and the kids came over to see us and Bill and Kallie stopped after ball practice for a visit. It is good to be home. The next few days were filled with ballgames, doctor and dentist appointments and seeing kids and friends. Friday 27~~~ Kent went to Portland and Sharon had a sleep over for her granddaughters, Sharon took them to the store and bought all the junk food they liked and they stayed up late playing cards and watching movies. Kent got home late and he watched TV upstairs while the girls enjoyed the basement. Saturday 28 ~~~ We went over to Bill's house for William's graduation party. He cooked London broil on the grill, we brought salads and Sharon baked 2 cakes to eat with the home made ice cream that Bill made. It was a very warm day and the ice cream was a hit. We had a lot of fun with all of our family together for the happy occasion teasing Wm. about when he was a little baby and the crazy things he did growing up. William at a crossroad in his life he now has to look for work and get ready for college. Tomorrow will be Joel's party for his graduation. They held having their parties until we could get home which was nice.

Monday 16th~~~ We arrived at the "7 Feathers Casino" early afternoon, after checking in we went for a walk, then to the casino for dinner and a little slot fun. That evening we enjoyed playing in the swimming pool. It is 40 feet long and heated, not too many people use it in the evenings, so we take advantage of the empty pool. Sharon has so much fun swimming back and forth with her 2 noodles she uses, she is up to 10 laps back and forth. We played a couple of games of cards before retiring for the day. Tuesday 17th~~~ After a swim in the pool, we rode the shuttle over to the casino but we didn't stay long as the slots weren't very nice to us. Sharon walked all over the park while Kent watched a movie and snoozed. That evening Kent grilled some great steaks and we played more cards. We are leaving for Salem in the morning after we do our swim.

June 12th through 15th

Thursday12th~~~~ We are starting our journey home to Oregon today. We are driving 320 miles to Tonopah, NV for the night then on to Reno which is 240 miles. The highway between Tonopha and Misquite is called the Extra terrestrial Highway. Kent kept looking for a spaceship. The closest thing that looked it came from out of space was the weired trees.(pictures) Kent wants to stay a few days in Reno, as we really like the camp ground. The sun shines so warm here everyday and the weather back home sounds like it is pretty cold yet and we aren't ready to give up our shorts yet. (Ha) We set up our patio (picture) and we sit outside a lot here, Sharon reads and Kent meets all kinds of people. The pool here is heated and it is kept up real nice. The pools that aren't heated are cold, as it gets quite cold at night and the hot days don't seem to warm them very good. Saturday 14th~~~ We went to a girls softball tournament here today and then to Carson City to a summer festival in the park. There was live music and all kinds of food and booths. We drove around the town and saw the Governors mansion. (picture) It was in the old section of town with small poor looking houses around it Next we went to Mass and out for Pizza afterwards . Sunday 15th~~~~ Today we drove to "Boomtown" and stopped for ice cream, not much to see there, so headed back home. We are leaving in the morning for Canyonville, Oregon (Seven Feathers RV Park)

June 9th through 11th

Monday 9th~~~ Today we drove around Mesquite and looked at the town. (pictures) This town is growing by leaps and bounds. It is hard to understand why more new houses are going up all over when California, Nevada and are flooded with houses that are foreclosed and just sitting empty. It seems like there would be some cheap houses to pick up in the area. Sharon shopped for some graduation gifts, then we came home and played in the pool. (picture) Tuesday the 10th~~~ Gary has left for California, Kent and Sharon entered a slot tournament, but we didn't even place at all. These people are here daily entering in these tournaments, they are fun to talk to about their daily routine. Sharon told Kent she was getting tired of Casinos!!!! Can you believe that?????? We went out for our free anniversary dinner at the Oasis this evening and tomorrow we are doing laundry and cleaning house to be ready to leave Thursday morning for Oregon!!!!

June 5th through 08th 2008

Thursday 5th~~~~ Today we are in Mesquite Nevada, staying at the "Oasis RV Park. It has four of the most beautiful swimming pools right close to our space. (pictures) The weather here is very warm and the water is so fun. Sharon has turned into a real fish since she discovered those "noodles" that kids swim with. She has two of them and she goes all over the pool with it doing lots of exercise work outs. She doesn't do any cooking here either, as Kent and Gary get all these free meals from the Keno Lady. It sure doesn't help Sharon's diet with all that good food including dessert after every meal. The Oasis Casino gave us a voucher for $30 to have dinner there for our Anniversary plus $5.00 each gambling money. Sharon got lucky and she doubled hers. :) Friday6th~~~~Sharon spent the day in the pool and reading, Kent and Gary were in another tournament. We all went out for dinner that evening and then came home to watch TV. Saturday7th~~~~We drove to Las Vegas with Gary and we stopped in the desert and took some neat pictures of the red rock formations on the way. (pictures)We are going to a AAA baseball game, the Las Vegas 51's against Phoenix. It was hat night and we got all kinds of free stuff and we got to sit in the VIP Private Suites. The guys said they were from Oregon and asked if they could look at the VIP Section, the man in charge asked if they wanted to watch the game up there. Of course they said yes and Kent asked if he could go get his wife. It was really awesome seeing everything so close, there was a large buffet with all kinds of food and free drinks, we had already ate the great ball park franks, so we just watched the game there. (picture) Sunday 8th~~~Kent was in another Keno tournament and Sharon stayed home swimming and reading her book, Kent came in 3rd place again, so that was fun for him.

May 30 to June 4th 2008

Friday May 30~~~~~~We arrived in Vegas during rush hour, but with "LOLA " our faithful GPS telling us where we needed to go it was no problem pulling our home on wheels around in all the traffic. Kent does a great job with all those lane changes and exits, Sharon reads a book and keeps quiet!!! Our RV Park is one block from the "California Casino" where Kent will be in the tournament on Monday. It is a block from Fremont street, so we wandered over there to the "Nugget Casino". They gave each of us $5.00 free playing money, Sharon put one dollar in "BIG BERTHA" the huge machine by the door, she won $20, so the next day she did it again and won $20 again. Saturday 31st~~~~ Today we rode a doubledecker bus down the strip, we rode the top level and enjoyed seeing everything. There are so Many Casinos being built and there are those cranes all over like the ones that fell in New York and Miami. We saw 7 of them in one small spot. It is kind of scary when that is what you see on the news of them collapsing over and over.
The casino where the tournament is being held gave us 4 nights free RV parking and a meal book for each of us for 3 meals a day almost any place we wanted to eat. They also let us use the pool if we choose to use it. Our friend Gary arrived here on Saturday, while the guys planned their Keno numbers, Sharon read and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. Sunday June 1st~~~~ We went to Mass today at the "Cathedral Of Angels" right in the heart of the strip with the beautiful "Wynn Casino" right next door. It has a huge parking lot and we wonder how the Catholic Church ever got that piece of land in such a prime location. The priest had everyone introduce themselves to their neighbor and tell where they were from. I think 98% of us were travelers like us. It sure is a beautiful church and I would recommend it to all of you Catholics to check it out!!!! Monday June 2nd~~~~Tonight was the start of the 3 day Keno tournament that has about 200 players and a $500.00 entry fee that they give you $500.00 in Keno money to spend. You can play all your money in one hour, or you can spend it over the 3 days of the tournament. Kent did real good the first night, he was in 7th place and in the end he was in 42 place. He didn't win any prize money, but he did win back $429.00 playing the games. He had fun and with the 4 days of food and free camping,l we came out ahead and he plans to do it again. He learned a lot from the pro's who do this a lot.
