Wednesday 3~~~ Today was a long day, we drove to Boston and just finding a parking place was enough to wear you out, we walked several miles today or at least it felt like we did. We went to the Boston National Park Charlestown Navy Yard where they had the USS Constitution "Old Iron Sides" to tour and a museum to go through. The USS Constitution is the oldest warship afloat in the world. She protected our merchant vessels from Pirates before we had a navy. The use of sails to power ships dates back to thousands of years. Operating a war ship demanded a large crew to handle the sails and guns. Over 400 crewman were needed to sail the USS Constitution. (pictures) Next we walked and walked again to find the Boston African American National Historic Site on Beacon hill in downtown Boston. It was down a dead end alley so it was real hard to find but after asking a UPS delivery driver where it was we still had a hard time finding it. It wasn't very interesting, so we called it a day and we retraced our long journey back to the truck and headed home. We went by the famous clam strip restaurant Woodman's and we decided to stop again, it would be a good night to try an order of deep fried lobster and haddock. Both were fantastic, but Sharon thinks the clam strips are still the best!!! We sure were tired when we got home tonight and we are going back again tomorrow only we are taking the train so Kent doesn't have the hassle of parking the truck.
