Monday 8~~~We drove to Mystic Sea Port, Connecticut today. It was a short drive and after we got set up in the RV park we drove to Mystic Sea Port and toured the USS Nautilus submarine. It was the first nuclear submarine in the United States Navy. (pictures) The picture of the rings signify the size of the first submarine and the largest ring is the size of the subs now. After we left there, we stopped at a outdoor deli and we had a wonderful meal of fried clams. The clams here are really the best ever, and we are eating as much of the good seafood as we can. After we got home, while we were watching TV, someone knocked on the window several times where Kent was sitting, it was already dark outside and it kind of scared us. Kent went to the door and there was some young man who spoke very broken English (Frenchman). It was after 11 PM and we were the only ones in the campground still up, so he came to our door. He and his wife and small child had just pulled in, they had rented a motor home and he didn't know how to open it up, turn on the propane , hook up the water or anything. Kent went over and showed him how to get the lights, water and the slides out and he showed him how to run the furnace as it was pretty cool for the little one. Sharon was pretty worried about Kent going out in the dark at that hour to help a stranger, but it worked out OK. We stopped to check in on them before we left the next morning, but they must have slept in as their blinds were all pulled. We could not imagine anyone renting an RV without having them show you how to set it up. Kent said they were very appreciative. Tomorrow we are headed for Jersey City, NJ. which is right across the Hudson River from New York. The traffic, freeways and bridges will make it a very long and tough drive. Tomorrow we will go see the Statue of Liberty.
