March 2 through 11, 2009

Monday 2~~~~Yesterday we left for Las Vegas where we will be saying for a couple of weeks. We left early so we wouldn't be caught in the heavy traffic from the NASCAR race, we tried to get some pictures of the cars at the track, but they are quite a distance from the highway. The race was sure a good one and we wished we would have listened to Kim and put some money on Kyle Busch to win the race. We parked our trailer at the California Casino (picture) and after we settled in, we walked over to the Casino where we played the slots for awhile and then we came home for dinner and TV for the evening. Tomorrow (Tuesday) the Keno tournament starts and lasts until Thursday. Kent will be pretty busy with Gary at it, and Sharon plans to write in her books she is writing for her children. We received a phone call from Sharon's cousin Linda Kessler, they are wintering out here and wanted to get together again, so they joined us here in Vegas for a week. They are camping at Sam's Town, where we moved to after the Keno Tournament. We had all our meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner paid for by the casino all week, so Sharon's diet went bye bye again, the only thing that is helping is she gave up sweets for Lent, so she doesn't eat all those desserts and ice cream with those buffets we go to. The slots didn't pay too good one day, so we rubbed the belly of the "Buddha" and still no luck!!! (picture) Thursday 5~~~ Tonight we went to a "Variety Show" at the "Planet Hollywood Casino" with Mel and Linda. We got free tickets from the Nevada Blood Bank for giving blood ( Gary donated and Sharon tried) They really reward you here at all the blood banks. The show was very entertaining and we went out for dinner afterwards. Friday 6~~~ We went back to the Planet Hollywood casino because they give you $5 free slot play on your players card and if you get 4 points on your card, they give you $15 more. Sharon got her 4 points right away, so she played her $15 free dollars and wound up keeping $21. Kent only had one point on his card, so Sharon took it and added $5 to it and wound the $15 play money which she turned into $30, We went away feeling good that day with their money. LOL Mel and Linda didn't do so good with theirs, but they had fun trying. Saturday 8~~~ After Mass tonight the four of us went out for Pizza at our favorite place (Metro Pizza) That Pizza is so good, if you ever go near a Metro Pizza place, stop and have a "Stuffed Pizza". Order a small one and a salad to share and you will have enough bring some home for lunch. Monday 9~~~~ Today the 4 of us drove to Hoover Dam and had a great time viewing it and feeding the fish and ducks at the marina. Tuesday 10~~~~ We met our friend Gary at the Rio Casino and that evening we went to Boulder Station for dinner, Gary left for home in Carlsbad. Wednesday 11~~~~ Today the 4 of us went shopping after lunch and we went to check out the newest casino in Vegas, the " M " , they had a beautifyl wall made of glass blocks with Kalla Lillies in the blocks. (picture) That evening we had Mel and Linda over for dinner. Sharon made a delicious chocolate 3 layered dessert that was real hard to serve and not eat, Sharon gave Mel another haircut and we watched a good TV show together. We are leaving for Indio, California in the morning, our cousin will head East.
