March 20 through 28, 2009

Friday 20~~~~Kent went out for breakfast this morning while I did the aerobics class with the ladies again. (picture) There are about 16 in the class and it is a lot of fun. After swimming we hooked on to the trailer and we headed for the ESKP park in Yuma. We have stayed here before and we really like the park, after lunch we drove into town and came home to go to the pool. Sharon spent a lot of time writing on her books today, it is getting to be fun the closer she is to getting done. Pepsi loves to lay on top of my work while I am writing. (picture) Monday 23~~
This morning was swim class day,The temperature of the water was 82 degrees and the outdoor temperature was 54 degrees, with wind chill , it was chilly for Sharon but it was a lot of fun also. Today was a good day to sit and write on the books and go outside and read in the shade. We really do like this campground, we plan to leave here on Saturday for Benson, Arizona. Friday 27~~~We drove across the border to Algodones, Mexico this morning to have lunch and to shop a little. After standing in the line for one and a half hours, Kent was sent back through the line at the border check because we didn't know the correct answers to give the border patrol, when they asked him when was the last time he had brought a bottle over and he said last Friday!! You are supposed to only bring one bottle per month. The guard was quite stern or maybe RUDE??? Kent was going back through the line to return it and all the people were looking at him and asking him why he was going the wrong way. ha He told them why and one lady said " give me that bottle and meet me on the other side." ha Kent got in line after her and her husband and went through again with no problem. They gave us the booze and we all laughed about it. Mean while I was checked right through and I waited and waited for Kent and I was getting a little worried what they did to him. LOL It all turned out OK, but I was sure worried and I asked some people if they saw him in there and one lady said I think they are making him dump something out. I went through just fine with my bottle. Then when we got home, I was eating something and I found myself biting into a gold crown that fell out in my mouth. I called my Dentist in Oregon to see if they can be glued back in and she recommended I go to a dentist and it would cost $900. I always said I would never go to Mexico for dental work, but when she said $900 in Oregon, I couldn't imagine what they would charge in California. Kent got on the phone and called a phone number in our camp ground brochure and made me an appointment in Mexico for the next morning. Saturday 28~~~ We arrived at the dentist office about 8:30 to be the first in line for my tooth to be fixed. The check in Dentist was the first to arrive and I was called in for the exam on the gold crown that fell out. They have a neat small wand they put in your mouth and in front of you is a computer screen that shows you exactly what each tooth looks like enlarged!!! It is the neatest thing ever!!! I had Kent come in the room to watch with me and he too was amazed at this machine. We could see the decay that was on the teeth surrounding the old crown and another gold crown that had a crack in it, Kent saw that one , I had 3 gold crowns and 2 gold bridges and a lot of my fillings were so old and made of mercury and something else they don't even use anymore. They recommended I remove all of them and get porcelain crowns on all of them. They have a real nice motel that is free for their patients to use when they have extensive dental work done. They have a driver who will take you to the motel and out for dinner and back to the clinic in the morning. We talked to several people who were using it and they said it was very nice and so handy to use instead of standing in that long line for customs to go back to the states at the end of a long day getting your teeth fixed, to come back again the next morning. We refused the offer of course as we have out kitty cat Pepsi to take care of. They removed all the crowns and old fillings that first day and took the impressions for the new crowns the same day. I was prepared for a lot of pain that night, but surprising I had none. We stopped on our way home to see some people we had met in the dentist office that morning . They were camped out in the desert where all the sand dunes are and where all the dune buggy people camp. There was to be some races there tonight. We put our truck in 4 wheel drive and we went half way up the dunes and walked the rest of the way to see them race. One of the ladies gave me a ride in theirs while Kent visited and watched. (pictures) It was a lot of fun but I was totally exhausted tonight when we got home from getting up early to see the dentist, having 17 crowns done, riding the dune buggy and the ride home. I was telling Tress about what we did today and we decided that Mom is still a pretty tough old bird for her age. LOL They will finish my crowns on Monday, what a day this has been!!!! They told me to not lose the gold they took out, as it was very good gold and I can sell it. ha
