Saturday 25~~~~~Kent went to the beach house to pick up the boat last Tuesday to get it ready for our upcoming trip to Canada. Today was a perfect day to take it out on the river and test it out, Tress, Bodie and Blaize had the day free, so we packed a lunch and off we went to Portland for the day. Bodie had a great time helping Kent drive the boat and Blaize even gave it a try. There were a lot of people on the beach and quite a few boats on the water. I don't know who had more fun with the boat, Kent or the kids. Kent loves his boat and the water, he will be in his element when we get to Canada.

Saturday 18 and 19Th~~~~ We spent the weekend traveling to softball games to watch Sharon's grand daughter Kallie play ball. She is their pitcher and it sure is different watching the pitching so different from the boys baseball games we have watched for so many years. Kallie has been taking lessons for over a year now as she has surpassed what her dad can teach her and she is very good. It is fun to watch her pitch and the different drop ball, fast and other types of pitches she uses to strike them out. After the game we went out for dinner at the Olive Garden and we spent a quiet evening at home watching TV. Monday 20~~~~Today Kent fixed the gutter on the house that came loose and I layed some old bricks I have had stacked in my back yard for 3 years. It sure looks nice and I don't have that mess for the lawn guy to have to mow around. (picture) We went over to Pammy and Jeff's house tonight to have Pammy try to get a sliver out of Kent's finger that has been bothering him for so long. Our old eyes don't work as good as her young ones do in removing slivers. LOL I hope she got it, as it has bothered him for so long and his Dr. said he didn't see anything there but Kent know there is. Tuesday 21~~~~ Kent went to the beach this afternoon to bring home the boat to get ready for our trip to Canada on August 10. Cleaning and polishing the boat is Kent's passion. (picture) We will have a lot of fun with the boat there and hopefully we will catch some nice halibut or salmon.

Sunday 12~~~We left early this morning for "Fisherman's Bend Campground" where we are camping with the West Family for 4 days. We couldn't make reservations for our camp sites, so Kent and I were at the gate when they opened and we got a beautiful campsite big enough for both of our families to set up camp in. It is so much nicer to have just one fire to get wood for and to not have to take food back and forth for the meals we cook together. (picture) It was raining the day we got there, so our big trailer was real nice to enjoy our morning coffee inside and not getting wet and not having the two little ones all mud the first thing in the morning. Monday 13~~~~The day is cool and still misting a little, a good day to visit around the campfire and enjoy a walk. Kent knew of some good slash piles of trees, so he and Cory took off and came back a few hours later with a LOT of wood for our fire. We like big fires when we camp, so we are all set for big fires the rest of the week. They had a good time out driving around and going down trails that Cory knows about from his deer hunting and Kent enjoy driving around to new places. We baked large baking potatoes in the coals of our fire and the guys grilled steaks for dinner tonight. Tress and I made some salads and a yummy dessert. Tuesday 14~~~~Today is going to be a warm one, so we packed a picnic lunch and we headed to Detroit Lake to fish off of a dock there where it was stocked with trout. We all caught fish, finishing up the day with 19 pan size trout for dinner tonight. Kent and Blaize cleaned the fish (picture) and Cory cooked them outside on the grill, I made JO JO Fried potatoes in the oven and Tress made a salad and some creamed cucumbers. We sure are eating good meals for camping!!! Wednesday 15~~~~ It was pretty hot today, so we drove to a beach near by and ate a picnic lunch in the shade and let the kids play in the water with their life jackets (picture) on while I sat in my chair with my feet in the water reading my book. Tress and Kent stayed in the shade and Cory played with the dog in the water and the kids. We fixed hamburgers for dinner when we got back to camp, finishing up the meal with ice cream we picked up in town on our way home today. Our friends Doug and Jody joined us later that evening for a game of cards. We really had a big fire tonight, Kent and Bodie kept finding new things to put in the fire to see how fast they would melt or what ever they thought would happen. Big and little boys sure like to play with the fire and any age. Thursday 16~~~~ We made deep fried sugar donuts outside this morning for Kent this morning, Lisa made them last time we camped with them and he is still talking about how good they are, so we made them for breakfast this morning and were they ever good. Doug and his son came over to take our left over fire wood to their campsite and were just in time for the delicious donut fry also. I say they were for Kent because he asked every morning when we wer going to make them after we had already ate breakfast, we all ate our share of them. LOL

Monday 6~~~~ Today My grand daughter Pamela went over to Her cousin Shelby's house to spend the night and have some girl fun. Tuesday 7~~~~Kent and I drove over to Spirit Mountain Casino for lunch and some fun on the slots. I left with some of their money for a change, so that was fun. Wednesday My grandson ray spent the night here and he and Pamela stayed up most of the night watching TV, they love the family room in the basement with no one to bother them and it dark and cool in the morning, so they sleep until noon. Thursday 10~~~~ Today I weaved some color into Pamela's hair, her hair is so long and thick, it was a real job. I really miss having the salon to do things like hair color in, I do have a hydraulic cutting chair downstairs which makes doing the haircuts easy though. I am taking Pamela half home tomorrow, meeting her mom half way. We are going camping with Tress and Cory and the kids for a few days at "Fisherman's Bend", a real neat campground about 26 miles from Salem and not far from Detroit Dam.

Thursday 2~~~~ Kent left for the beach house this morning to spend the 4th of July weekend with his girls and their families. I stayed home and we made freezer strawberry jam at Thresa's house. Billy and his daughter Breanna were there also, we made 6 batches of delicious freezer jam. Friday 3rd~~~~Today I drove half way to Eugene to pick up my grand daughter Pamela to spend a few days at our house and some time at the homes of her cousins. We had lunch together at the truck stop where we met and then we headed home to Salem. Saturday 4th of July~~~~~ Kent called early this morning and he was busy taking chairs down to our favorite spot for the big "Rockaway Beach" 4th of July Parade. They have a big day planned at the beach and Tress her kids and I are going to the "Civil War Reenactment" that they do every year, it gets larger with more soldiers in real uniforms and bigger battles every year. We packed a nice picnic lunch with lots of cold water and juices as the weather is very warm this time of year. My son Bill usually goes with us to the battle, but it was just to hot today for him, so he stayed home with his kids and Pamela. Kallie, Pamela and I went over to Tress and Cory's house for fireworks that evening. We had a lot of illegal fire works from Washington that were really big and pretty, at the beach Kent and his gang had the usual illegal ones also, they shoot them off into the ocean so there is no danger of getting hurt, just caught!!!! The cops are on full duty at the beach, as there are so many illegal fire works at all of the houses on the beach. This year they caught the Mosher's and gave them a hefty fine. So I don't think we will be shooting them off there next year, we will watch the neighbors beside us and let them get the ticket. LOL We both had a good 4th with our families and Kent came home on Sunday.

Wednesday 1st.~~~~~ Today we finished staining the deck and we went to Lowe's where I bought some wicker furniture for the lower deck. I stained my old redwood furniture and bought new cushions for the chairs and it looks real nice. I bought a neat misting fan when we were in Vegas, so we will really enjoy the deck while we are home now. We have been working on this garage sale and deck since we got home and it sure is nice to have it about done. I still have to stain the steps and stools to my hot tub, but I think I will do that this fall when we come home for Thanksgiving, I need to see some of my friends and do something besides work. Bodie came over one day while I was painting the furniture, I had him paint the lattice in the yard and some old benches, he was a real help with the paint brush. I noticed later where he had painted a stripe on the tree, bird house and fence, I guess he must have gotten bored and was experimenting with other objects to test the paint on. Here are some pictures of all our hard work.
