July 12 through July 17, 2010

Monday 12~~~~~ We came into town last night and I picked up Bodie my grandson and took him home to our house to spend the night. Kent drove up to Portland to spend the day and Bodie and I spent the day walking and exploring new thing in town. He is a great hiker and loves to look at old houses and churches in town. Tuesday 13~~~~Our friend Gary drove down from Portland this morning and after I took Bodie home, the three of us drove to the Casino for lunch and some fun on the slots and Keno. We came home about 4 o'clock, Kent and Gary took off for Fisherman's Bend Park, stopping at Kent's favorite drive-inn for burgers and fries on the way. I finished up a few things I needed to do at the house and then I drove over to Pam and Jeff's house to see how the new addition on the house was coming along. It is just beautiful, all new kitchen with all new appliances, I wish it were my kitchen. I then drove my car out to the park, it was quite dark when I got there, I just made it before they closed the main gate at 10 o'clock. We had a nice visit with Gary and he slept on our hide a bed. Wednesday 14~~~~ We were up early this morning to do our jobs, Kent went to the office to help with the morning campers that arrive early for a space while Gary wandered around a little until Kent came home. I fixed us a big breakfast and then Kent and Gary drove around the park and looked at things and Kent cleaned a couple of sites before leaving for the office at noon. Gary and I drove around in the golf cart and I cleaned the rest of the sites, we also ran some errands for Kent in the office, putting up occupied signs on some sites and getting some signatures on some paper work. Gary left around 4PM and I watched television until time to pick up Kent from the office. My daughter Thresa had bunion surgery this morning, so I called her a few times checking in on her. Cory is off work all week to take care of her, so she is in good hands. Saturday 17~~~~Today it was such a beautiful day here, the swimming hole was full of kids and their parents in the water. I helped with the children's program in the Educational center where we had a class on the solar system. We had a large group of very smart children who knew a lot about all the planets and were eager to learn more. Our group leader led the class and I helped her by handing out all the supplies for the children to make their project. We had a sheet of paper with all the planets and their size and names and the children used white play dough to make into balls and color them the colors the planets are supposed to be, finishing them up by gluing them on the paper. The smallest planet was to be about the size of an eraser on a pencil, finishing up with the largest one being the size of a quarter. You can imaging the size some of them made the planets, they like things BIG!!!! As they were working, our instructor told them how long or many years it would take to get to a planet using driving a car as an example. They really had fun and they sure kept me busy sharing all the colored markers and glue amongst them. They were really creative when drawing the earth and the ring around Saturn.
