Saturday 2~~~~~We got up early this morning and we headed to the Colorado National Monument without the 5TH wheel. It was beautiful with the sun coming up on those beautiful rocks and canyons. There was a movie at the National parks that showed how all the rocks, pinnacles, spheres and streams were formed many million years ago. We took a few more pictures here, we fueled up the truck and went back to the trailer park to hook up the trailer heading for West Minister, Colorado. I packed us our lunch again today and we ate it just outside Vale, Colorado. We wanted to stop in Vale and go through the "Village" so I could see what the shops were like, but there was no parking anywhere as they were doing street construction in the town and no one was stopping. We just got through Vale and was climbing up the steep hill outside of town when Kent woke me up from my start of a cat nap to look at the smoke in the air. The sky was black with smoke and by the time we almost reached the top of the hill, all traffic stopped. We were there for one and a half hours waiting for the fire to be put out. We were about one quarter of a mile from the accident and from the black smoke, we were sure it was a car or camper fire. A big fire truck went passed us, then 4 large flat bed trucks, several police cars, a tow truck and maybe more. People stayed in their cars and everyone was very quiet and concerned for what ever was ahead of us. I took a picture of the rubble when we went through. It was a large motor home and all that was left of it was the iron frame. (picture) We think the people were OK as we never heard any sirens other than the ones that first went by us to the fire. I said a rosary for them while we waited to get through, I am sure they need some prayers for help, I just hope it wasn't their only home, like so many RV er's on the road are. We drove on into West Minster, Colorado Elks club where we again met up with our friends John and Linda Burglehaus. It took us quite awhile to get set up as the spaces were not normal to get into, so it was late by the time we got done and had dinner. We are going to The Rocky Mountain National Park in the morning together. We have a full day planned.
