Thursday 6~~~~We rode the "Bart" (subway) into downtown San Francisco this morning. This subway goes under the city(15 miles or so) and it is kind of Erie knowing that. I always have a book in my bag to read, so that is what I do if I don't like doing something. LOL Kind of like when my sister Jan and I were little girls and something scared us in the middle of the night. Jan wanted to see what it was, but I said to her, just put your head under the covers and it will be OK. (Do you remember that night Jan????) The first thing we did was stop at a Star Bucks for a Latte for me and a frappacino for Kent. There was a beautiful young lady in line ahead of us and Kent asked her which direction to the Macy's store. He told her how much I enjoyed that store last year when we were here, one whole floor is nothing but cosmetics and jewelry. She told us the direction to go and she said she was a makeup artist in the store "Barneys Of NY" close to where we were headed. We got our coffee and she waved goodbye to us on our way out and said to have a great trip in S. F. We went to Macy's and every cosmetic counter you walk by, they want to do your lips, brows or something. It is a lot of fun being so pampered, Of course I never tell them I am a licensed cosmetologist, I just let them try different products on me. From here we went to lunch and to Victoria Secrets where I bought some bath products for my grand daughters birthday. After shopping around a few more places, Kent said we should go the Barney's of NY and see what the store the pretty lady from the coffee shop, works in looks like. We had no idea what this store was all about, just that it was the upper scale of department stores. The first floor of this store was purses and scarves only, cosmetics was down a winding staircase, clothing was on the second floor upstairs. We saw the girl and she saw us at the same time and she hurried over to talk to us. I told her I was wondering if moisturizers with alpha hydroxie were better to use for my skin. She got out a product book about a new mositurizer that channel has out and it is supposed to be really the best. I asked her if I could keep the book, so I could check it out. She said for us to wait she wanted to send me home with some samples. Then she told the saleslady in the area next to hers to get some samples together for me of her line, as it is best to try two different ones in case one doesn't work. While she was in the back looking for the samples, the perfume lady came over from her department and asked what kind of perfume I liked the best and I told her, she came back with three different perfumes for me to smell and then she gave me 9 or 10 vials of perfume, there is a lot in each one. Then she asked Kent if he wore cologne and he said no. I said I would like it if he did, so she brought him over six small spray vials of some different fragrances. He really likes them, as he already tried one of them. Kent called his daughter Dee Dee and he asked her if she knew of a Barneys of NY store and she knew of them. She got on the computer and the one cream our friend the sales lady said was so good to use (but it was expensive) cost $750 a bottle. Kent asked the makeup artists if it was a slow day, as there was only 3 of us in the department, They said no, that is the way it is, they don't have people who just come in and look around, they have personal clients who order by phone or come in by appointment and buy and leave. We really had a lot of fun with those lovely ladies in Barneys shop. They treated us just like we were really buying customers. I have enough samples to try and I will have fun seeing what the good stuff really does versus the Clineque and Olay products I use. I am going to write her a thank you card for making my trip to San Francisco so fun. We looked at the price of a purse on our way out and it was $2500. We were impressed with the women who worked there, because they treated us like we were big buying customers, knowing we weren't buying anything and we had just come from Macy's, their low end competitor. LOL Note the picture of Kent's Droid X phone he uses as an altimeter for the altitude we are traveling, speed and several other things. That phone just does everything!!!!
