Saturday 28~~~~Another wet rainy day with spurts of sunshine in between the showers. Kent worked in the office and I took care of the campsites. Not much to do except sell wood and refill the wood carts as they empty them. My grand daughter Shelby and her boyfriend drove up to spend the night here over with Pam and Jeff in a tent. We went out for pizza after Mass and they came over to play cards with us after it got dark, it is rally raining hard tonight, I hope their tent doesn't leak. Sunday 29~~~~Light showers again this morning, not much to do, Kent is in the office again, so I went over and ate breakfast with the Norwood's and visited with them. Shelby said the tent was real warm and it didn't leak, so they were fine. A few people left this morning, so I had a few sites to clean. Kent got off work at the office at noon, just in time to welcome his daughter Dee Dee and her husband Tony, they drove up up to see us for the day. At the same time they arrived, my daughter Tress and Cory and the two kids drove up in front of our trailer. They had packed a picnic lunch to eat up here and Dee Dee and Tony took Kent out for lunch, I stayed at camp as I had already ate. It was a fun but busy day with so many people here, Tress and Cory went over to the Norwood camp that was right next to ours and sat around their nice fire and visited and ate their lunch. I had fun taking Bodie and Blaize all over the park in the new golf car, they really like to ride all over in it. When Kent and Dee Dee got back, I spent my time visiting with them, as this is the first time they came up here. Dee Dee is learning how to make silver jewelry, she made her dad a gorgeous bracelet for his May birthday. (picture) She is so talented with anything she does, this bracelet is so beautiful. I will try to post a picture of it. She called me to have me get his wrist size, I made up some story about comparing his wrist size to mine as I measured our wrists with dental floss. Kent didn't even remember me doing it and he asked her how she knew what size to make his bracelet. He was so pleased with it and he hasn't taken it off is wrist yet, he wears it with his gold Italian bracelet I bought him for a wedding gift. We went out for dinner with Tony and Dee Dee to a Mexican restaurant near here and then we came back to camp to visit a little more with everyone before they left for home.
May 30~~~~Kent worked in the office this morning and I cleaned a sites, most of the people stayed as late as they could before heading home from the long weekend. I look forward to our days off this week, Tuesday and Wednesday, it has been a busy week, but also a very enjoyable one with our kids coming up to see us. We are sure blessed!!!!!!!!!!

May 23 through 27, 2011

Monday 23~~~~The weekend was very nice in the park, the campsites weren't full, as the weather is still not that warm and we are having a lot of rain showers. Kent worked in the office this morning and I helped clean sites. Mike and Sheila are still here, so I don't have to do it alone yet.
Tuesday 24~~~~ Today is our day off, but we are having a staff meeting at 1 PM today and we need to be there for it, so we are driving into Salem after the meeting, in fact we decided to drive to the casino and have a little fun on the slots machines. We ate a late lunch at the casino and then we gave our donation and came home to Salem. Today is Kallie Mae's birthday and she told me all she wants for her birthday is a big bag of Molasses crisp cookies. Wednesday 25~~~After I did some grocery shopping, I came home and started baking the famous Molasses sugar cookies from "Aunt Gene's" recipe. I made her a double batch of cookies, Tress and the kids came over after they got out of school and she helped me bake the last of the cookies, my back was getting tired from standing. We had dinner at my house before they went home and I went over to give Kallie her present on my way back to the park. It was a busy fun day in Salem, I sure do miss being home some days. Thursday 26~~~~I fixed us a large pot of stew with corn bread for dinner tonight, Kent requested it because today is a chilly, rainy day. Our son-in-law Jeff brought there motor home up here tonight after work, so they could get a space for the long weekend. They will be camped in the site right next to ours, so that will be nice to spend some time with them while we are working. Friday 27~~~~Today was a busy day getting everyone checked into the park and selling wood and refilling the wood carts. Pammy came up after she got off work, Kent and I fixed a pot roast for dinner for all of us and Pammy made a wonderful cherry cheese cake. We played a couple of games of hand and foot after dinner. We will probably play cards every night they are here, as it is too wet to sit outside by the fire, at least for us fair weather campers like Kent and I. LOL

Wednesday 18~~~~~This morning we went into the office and were officially signed up to work here another season. Basically it is the same as last year, just different days off and the same host will be here as before, except maybe one new couple. We were assigned a golf cart to drive and I am all excited because we got one of the new ones that we received late last year at the end of the season. Now if they just let us keep it!!!!! LOL Kent works in the office again and I am the site cleaner and fire wood sales lady, so I think a new cart is only appropriate for me, don't you think so??? I am posting some pictures of the wood bins that are full to the brim plus piles of more wood that we will sell this year. Last year we ran out of wood. (picture) Kent and I hauled gravel in it all afternoon today, it has a box on the back that has a dump handle and it sure is nice for getting into the sites and spreading them with gravel. Maybe I will lose a few pounds before Justin's wedding on July 16. that would be great. The picture of me in our golf cart was taken at one of the viewing sites of the beautiful river than runs along the park, it is really full and running very fast right now. The park got another new telescope for the star and planet classes we have in the park on Friday nights. Now we have 5 telescopes, but this is the biggest one and it is huge. (picture of Kent and Ranger Dan) We really have a good turnout for the star gazing nights in the park. Wednesday 19~~~~I fixed us an early dinner tonight and I made two chicken burritos that I wrapped up and took to the game for Tress and I to eat while we watched Bodie play ball. The weather is still chilly after the sun goes down while you are at the games, so we have to carry warm clothes, umbrella's, blankets and sometimes our chairs. It seems like you just get all set up and comfortable and the game is over and you have to pack up and head for the car. It is a lot of fun though and it takes me back to all the years that Billy played ball and his dad was coaching. We lived so close to the ball field, I would walk or ride my bike to the games always sitting by my best friend Pat Gregg who lived right across the street, her boy Scott played on our team and we never missed a game. It doesn't seem possible that Bodie is the last of the grandsons playing in little league.

Sunday 15~~~~Today is the day we take the 5th wheel to Fisherman's Bend Park to start our job volunteering in the BLM Park. We had such a good time here last year that we decoded to do it again this year. We stopped for lunch on our way up here and it didn't take long to set up, Kent and I remembered how we did it last year and Kent stuck tent stakes in the ground where the dist stood, so that was easy to hook up also. Lou and Kathy stopped to say hello and to offer their help and next here came Floyd to see how we wee doing. We went for a long walk in the park and looked over all the improvements they did in the park during the winter. They tiled the North and South bathrooms and they look beautiful. The boy scouts came up and they laid rocks along all the paths that needed them and that sure looks nice. ~Monday 16~~~~Today is Kent's birthday and we didn't do much but be lazy and walk all over the park, we had a nice steak dinner in the evening and we watched a movie, it was a beautiful day. Tuesday 17~~~~~Today is my high school graduation date 51 years ago. Wow that is a long time ago, I don't feel like I should be that old! It sure is nice to be blessed with good health and a good life. I had my yearly check up in Salem this morning, so Kent and I drove into town together, he ran a few errands and we met Tress for lunch at the Olive garden. After our lovely lunch, we headed back to the park, we are taking Tuesday and Wednesday as our days off this year at the park. It made it easier for Crystal to have Sunday and Monday as her days off.

Sunday 8th~~~~~~Today was Mother's Day for all of us Mothers in the world. Of course all my girls want to spend the day with their mother and also with their families, so we got together and decided to have a party at my house at 2:00PM and we would all fix the food. We left it open as to what you wanted to bring and as usual it was so much fun with so much food. We planned to play cards and sit the food out for everyone to eat or snack as they got hungry. Lisa made a pot of Chile and a corn bread salad, Pammy made two kinds of meat balls, Tress a salad and a new brownie recipe that everyone asked for a copy of the recipe. I fixed a vegetable relish tray, chips and dip and I baked a chocolate cake with the favorite family frosting recipe. Jean Marie fixed deviled eggs and a dessert. Billy bought the drinks and more dessert. The best surprise of all was Shelby who now has her own apartment came with a double layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that she made herself from scratch. We really had fun with two tables of card players stopping after the first game for more snacks and dessert and then changing partners and playing another game of hand and foot. What a great time we had together and I feel so blessed to have such a beautiful family who loves to get together and celebrate our many special events in life. To all you Mothers who read this, happy late Mother's Day!!!!
