Sunday 26~~~~~Today was the bridal shower for my grandson Justin's fiance Jen in Salem. It is getting close to the wedding day and we are all excited and ready for big event. The brides mother is putting on the shower for her daughter who lives in Florida who is the Matron of Honor. The party is being held at Pammy's house because she has so much room and the brides family is all from out of state. Jen's mother Anne is a natural at decorating and creating beautiful settings for this sort of thing. She decorated the desert table with a center piece made like a three tiered wedding cake, she rolled bath towels and stood them on end in a circle with a heavy wall of beautiful foil gift paper around it. The second tier was hand towels rolled and stood up in the same paper. The top tier was wash cloths rolled and stood on end in another circle of foil paper, she covered the towels with silk flowers and on the top tire, she had more flowers and a cake top. It was so beautiful, I hated to see it taken apart after the shower, it looked just like a real cake. She made large lolly pops from a cake mix baked and crumbled and frosting mixed in it and shaped into large lolly pops that were covered with sheets of a candy ( pink & white) coating wrapped around the pops. She put long candy stems in then and stood them up in a large piece of Styrofoam cover with pretty paper. She also had very large frosted pink heart sugar cookies and small pink boxes filled with yummy candy for each to take home. There was a food table with veggies and dip. cream puff sandwiches, hummus and crackers, chips and dip and cold cuts. We played some fun wedding games that I hadn't played before and then we divided into three teams and each team was given 4 rolls of toilet paper and we had to pick someone to be the bride in each group and the ream made a wedding dress on the model out of the rolls of toilet paper. That was a lot of fun, and Jen and her team won for the best looking wedding dress. I was the model on our team, we all had fun playing this game. Then the bride opened her many beautiful gifts and we visited and ate more dessert and I headed home to the park. What a fun day!!! This takes me back a few years when my girls had their bridal showers and my Mom was there and I was the mother of the bride.
