Sunday 26~~~~We were tired this morning, so we watched a movie while we had our coffee and bagels. After we ate lunch, we drove into town and stopped at the casino for an hour, we won $24 before heading home to go to the Turkey Vegetable Soup with buns dinner at the club house. There is one couple in the park who likes to cook and they do things like this for everyone to attend, they charge a small fee ($2.00 ) which they donate back to the club. The soup was so good, I am going to find out how they made it, the broth had so much flavor with pieces of turkey. They had carrots, peas, celery, onions, corn, 2 kinds of beans and some spaghetti noodles broke up. They fed 125 people and they had enough left over, they sold to anyone who wanted it. I would have bought some, but they were selling it after they served the Sunday night ice cream, we headed home, as Cindy and Howie were coming over to play cards, they didn't go to the dinner, as they are on a protein diet. We each won 2 games tonight and we had lots of fun. I used to always have coffee, cookies or cake for dessert while we played cards, they all call me Mz. Betty Crocker. Now that every one is on a diet here in the park, I haven't baked anything for so long. Maybe I will lose a pound or two. Monday 27~~~~Kent did the laundry this morning and I fixed pork ribblets with carrots and cabbage in the crock pot for dinner tonight and I dusted and cleaned every square inch of this trailer. It was a busy day for both of us, we got a lot of things done. We played fast track with Cyndi and Howie again tonight. The boys won more games that us girls did again. I think I am the problem, as I don't see all the moves to knock the boys off . Tuesday 28~~~~ Kent got up early this morning, to go over and pick up his generator he lent a couple of ladies to use again, because the were short on money and couldn't afford a camp site, they were camped in the dry camp (boon dock) area for almost a week with no electricity. The generator is heavy, and hard to get out of the basement where he keeps it, he let them use it last Thursday and now they think it is theirs to use. Kent was afraid they would maybe take it with them or leave it sit and not return it to us, so that is why he was up early. I got up early also, because Kent needs a hair cut so bad and Howie wants one too. I gave them their hair cuts and some guy stopped in his golf cart and asked if he could be next in line, so of course I was glad to do another one. I don't charge a price, I accept tips. After lunch we drove into town to do some shopping at Kohl's, we thought it was senior day, and that day is tomorrow, so the store manager said if we bought our receipt in tomorrow on Sr. day, he would give me the discount, which amounted to $20.50. We are going on a "Farm Tour" tomorrow, so we will stop there on our way through town. As we drove out of the park, we looked and the ladies had left the park, they never stopped to say thank you or pay for the gas or even better yet, make sure it was Kent who picked up the generator as they were asleep when he brought it home. I sure hope we don't run into them again needing a generator, as they will get a fast no thanks from the Mosher's. LOL Aren't people so rude sometimes when you help them???

Saturday 25~~~~Another beautiful day in the park, so warm and sunny. We didn't do much, just visited with friends and went into town for Mass at 4:30. We are to meet Cyndi and Howie after Mass at the Elk's Club for dinner. The Mass lasted so long, I thought we might have to meet them for breakfast instead of dinner. The finance man got up to give a speech on the annual money drive for the church with the envelopes in the pews. He got up there with an envelope and pen, told everyone who hadn't filled one out to get out their pen and envelope and he went over the whole thing, line by line explaining each line and what it meant and he remained there until they were ready and turned in. Then in the middle of Mass before communion, the priest had a couple come up front with family, friends and their two small children and he did a complete wedding ceremony on them. Next he baptized both of the children with their sponsors and more picture taking, last he introduced all the new communicants and their sponsors. I have never seen all of this done before at a regular Saturday night Mass, I think it made a lot of people late for plans made ahead of time. I was also surprised at them getting married with two children baptized at a Saturday evening Mass. I guess I should be thankful they are all on the right track with their family and glad I could participate.

Thursday 23~~~~Last night when we got home from church, we went to the club house and played a board game sort of like the one we call Wahoo, only it is called Fast Track!!! The ladies in the park invited me to go shopping with them this morning, they were going to a fabric store to buy material to make the cutest bags to carry your Nooks or Kindles in, or anything you want to really. I haven't sewed for so long, so it was fun picking our fabric and accessories. I hope I get mine made with no trouble before we leave the park. When we got home, Kent had the trailer all moved to our spot and he had the new flag pole up and the flags flying so pretty. We played the board game with Cyndi and Howie again in the evening, us girls really beat the boys. Friday 24~~~~Kent and I went into town to the Barnes and Noble store to see how to do a few things on the nook, from there we went to the Casino and played the slots for an hour, we left $20 ahead, so that was fun. We went to Cyndi and Howies trailer to play the board game again tonight, we each won 2 games.

February 21 and 22, 2012

Tuesday 21~~~~We left for Yuma this morning where we will stay for a couple of weeks visiting with our friends at the SKP park there. I packed us our picnic lunch that Kent enjoys so much and we were on the road again. We don't stop to eat, Kent keeps on driving, after we finished lunch we saw the "Sketcher Shoe" warehouse. It is a huge warehouse, I couldn't say how long the buildings were, Kent says about 1/2 mile ?? My daughter Pammy wears Sketchers shoes, so we pulled in to check it out. When we stopped, I asked Kent how he was going to get out of the spot he parked in. He said right through there as soon as that car moves, OK, he is the one who has to do it! LOL We looked at the shoes and I found a pair that felt so good I could run a marathon in, well almost with a little warm up. We called Pammy and she asked us to pick up a pair for her, as she had never seen such a good price, even on sale as these were priced. We headed out to the parking lot and the car was gone, but three others had taken its place. Kent still thought he could make it, he tried it and couldn't, so by now we had a lot of backing up to do. Kent is a very good backer upper up and I am still good at stopping and directing traffic, so we were out of there and on the road quite quickly. We always have quite an audience when we do this because with the extra long truck and 38 feet of trailer, a little old lady giving directions, it draws attention. We had one more stop to make and I know you know what it was!!!!! Kent needed his FRAPACHINO after all that shopping and backing up. We arrived in Yuma after dark, so we pulled into the Coco pah Indian Casino and we parked in the free boon docking section for the night. We walked over to the casino and had a wonderful dinner and we played the slots for awhile winning $130 before calling it a day. We hated to quit, as we were having so much fun winning ,(which we don't usually do) but Kent had a long day driving and we were getting tired. We usually lose $20 and then we leave, because we are in so many casinos and we have to limit our losses. Wednesday 22~~~~We drove out to the park where we always stop and they put us in the over flow area for one day or until someone leaves. There is no electricity or water there but you can run your generators from 8 till 10 AM and from 4 to 6 PM every day, so it isn't too bad. Kent was worried about it being too hot and no air conditioning, but the weather was just perfect and we enjoyed our spot and seeing our friends here in the park. I fixed us spaghetti for dinner and frying the sausage made our smoke detector go off, so Kent had to start the generator after 6 PM so we could turn on our exhaust fans. Of course some idiot came over and reminded Kent that it was off time for him to do that. I thought Kent would eat his head off, but he said I guess your right, I will turn it off, but if will be on again at 8 AM. I hope you don't plan on sleeping in!!!! LOL After dinner we went into town to church. The Ash Wednesday Mass was Spanish and English mixed. There are so many Spanish people here they held it in an auditorium and it was really full, such beautiful children they all have.

Monday 20~~~~We have been in Fullerton, California since Friday and today we drove to Los Angeles to tour the "Museum of Tolerance". It is a museum about the "Holocaust" with room after room telling the whole story of the capturing of the Jew's and what all they went through for survival and of course the story of the millions who were executed. Everyone at the beginning of the tour was given a card that you put into the computers that were all over the museum and it showed you what Jewish child you were. There were different check points to update your card to tell you more about yourself. At the end of the tour, the computer printed your picture and all about your family and where your lived and what your father did and where you were taken after the Germans came and what happened to you. Each child was an actual case of that person. It is a reminder of how thankful we can be to live in a free country with all our choices of freedom we have. There were conference rooms with lots of seating, to go and listen to the volunteer Holocaust survivors who are quite old now, tell the story of their lives from childhood to present date. They told what their lives were like before the Germans took over, some very prosperous wealthy families owning their own business and leading very happy normal lives. Most of them lost their families, you had to be strong and healthy to survive. The elderly, sick, frail and weak were sent to the gas chambers, they sent the children through the gas chambers with their grand parents, leaving the parents to be workers. First they shaved the woman's heads and they bundled all the hair into bales, like bales of hay and they shipped it to another place to be made into blankets for the German soldiers. The parents if they were healthy were kept to be workers until they become too weak to be any good to the Germans and then they to were executed. Men and women were separated from each other, they slept 8 to a bed made out of wood with no mattress and one blanket for the 8 of them to share. The poor guy on the edge was really in the cold. They slept four at each end and they had 16 inches of bed space each. Their body heat from being so close is probably what kept them warm in the freezing winters. We received our picture and story of our child at the end of the tour and both of ours died in the gas chambers with their grand mother. They were such beautiful children in the pictures they gave us.

February 13 through 17, 2012

Monday 13~~~~~We are leaving Vegas for West Covina, Ca. this morning. It was supposed to be real windy today and Kent was not crazy about driving against a wind storm. It really sucks your gas tank down real fast. Actually the wind wasn't that bad and we drove the 258 miles in good time. I made Jean Marie's meat loaf recipe for dinner tonight and it was so good, I will make it again. I took some pretty pictures of some nasty looking dark clouds that looked like a real storm brewing, and it didn't. YEA!!!! Tuesday 14~~~~Happy Valentines Day!!!! We didn't go out for dinner, as we ate out so much in Vegas and Mesquite, we enjoyed eating at home tonight watching television together. Tomorrow we are driving into Los Angeles to see the Dr. Phil show again, we enjoyed it the last time we were here. Wednesday 14~~~~We got up real early to get ahead of the traffic this morning. The traffic was so bad it was bumper to bumper most of the way, I would not like to live here and drive in that mess every morning. We had VIP tickets for the Dr. Phil show this time, so we didn't have to stand in the long line, and I am glad we did, as it was cold, damp and windy. They do serve coffee to drink while you wait though. The first show they taped was a girl who was assaulted by her father from age 3 and that was a sad one, but the second show they taped was Erik Roberts (brother of Julie Roberts) for those of you who don't know him. It was a pretty good show about his recovery from drugs and ageing with his career in show business. His wife was kind of weird we thought. He seemed like a real nice guy. We drove around Beverly Hills after the show looking at the big houses, the we ate dinner at the IN and Out Burger place. They feed so many people there, it is well named, because you are truly In and Out real fast. The kitchen crew was real noisy and happy as we were leaving, so I asked the Mgr. what was going on and he said they were excited because they had broke their old drive through record of 58 to 62 cars served in one half hour. That is a lot of cars to do that fast, plus keeping the restaurant full all that time also. Thursday 16~~~~~Someone in Vegas told Kent about visiting the J Paul Getty Center in Santa Monica, so we researched it on the computer and thought it sounded like it would be something we would enjoy. Today we drove there and we really enjoyed it, It is hard imagine one man could have that much money to build such a beautiful place and have it filled with all the artwork art and leave money in a trust to run it forever. I kept thinking of my grand daughter Breanna who is studying art at Portland State and wishing she were there with us. I took a lot of pictures of the art work that I liked and some to show Bre. We were really tired from all that walking, we went through 3 of the 4 very large buildings. The architecture of the buildings is so neat, you just keep walking and you don't even realize that you have gone so far. They have a lot of chairs and benches to sit on and rest also. They have four different eating places to go to relax and eat. The museum has no admission fee, just $15 to park your vehicle , so it is a very inexpensive place to spend the day looking at art. When we finished up at the museum, we headed for home, stopping at Apple Bee's for dinner. The traffic was again bumper to bumper!!! Look it up on the computer and read all about J Paul Getty. He was an Oil tycoon and was considered the richest man in the world at one time. He left his two or three museums in a trust and they are flourishing very well. We might go to J.Paul Getty's Villa that is supposed to designed after a Villa in Europe. It to is very large and awesome. Friday 17~~~~Today we drove to Fullerton, California just a short distance down the road south where we will stay until Sunday or Monday.

Tuesday 7~~~~~We left Mesquite this morning for Vegas, Gary wanted us to stay a few more days but we have a lot of places we want to get to before it is time to head home to Oregon. After we got the trailer all set up, I fixed us lunch and we went over to the Casino to the movies. The Casinos have the nicest movie theatres in them with 6 movies to choose from. We went to the movie "Red Tail", we really enjoyed it, today was free popcorn day for seniors. We had just ate lunch, so we gave our popcorn certificates to some young couple who really appreciated the huge bags of free popcorn. After the movie we went home, as we had 7 days of gambling in Mesquite and didn't need any more today. LOL Wednesday 8~~~~Today we went to another movie at the casino, it was
"Up close and Personable". It was a real different sort of movie from what I expected, but it ended good. We went over to the Cannery Casino after the movie and every machine we played liked us. We left there with all the money I had lost in the slots at Mesquite plus some, so we were happy over that. Tomorrow our friends from Yellowstone Don and OJ are coming here, so we will be busy with them. Thursday 9~~~~Don and OJ called us this morning and they weren't sure where we were camped, so we drove over to where they were parked and brought them back to our place. I fixed us some bagels with cream cheese and my freezer raspberry jam and coffee, we haven't seen each other for several years, we had a lot of catching up to do. They gave me a beautiful red tulip plant, how sweet of them. I gave OJ a badly needed haircut and then we drove around and showed them Vegas, they haven't been here for several years. We had a nice dinner out together and after dark, we drove the strip to show OJ and Don all the action and the music and lights that are so pretty. They wanted to see the "Pawn Stars" store that is on TV so we went there. I took a couple of neat pictures of all the "Super Bowl" rings that they have there that were pawned over the years. I can't oimagine anyone pawnig their Super Bowl ring., We got home about 11:00 PM and I was pretty tired from all that walking. Friday 10~~~~ Today I did the laundry and Kent did some work on the computer.
Saturday 11~~~~ We stayed home today and I gave myself a haircut, we went to Mass and out for Pizza afterwards. Gary is coming here tomorrow, so we will be busy and on the go again.

February 4 through 6, 2012

Saturday 4~~~~Kent and Gary are in another Keno tournament this morning and I decided to stay home and have some quiet time alone with Pepsi. I am still working on my new cookbook copying recipes from my recipe cards from my box at home and tearing out pages from some magazines I have saved for some time now and pasting the recipes I want to keep in my new book. I think I just like to organize and do all this crazy stuff that most people wouldn't waste their time doing. I know I am behind on my blog, but I will get it done, I always do. LOL Kent came home at noon and picked me up and we went back to the casino to have lunch with Gary and some friends Dick and Faye. They are real nice and they wanted to see me, so I had to leave my projects and go for lunch. The food is so good and I always eat too much at a buffet and I always have to eat a piece of pie with soft ice cream. So you know what that is doing to my diet. Sunday 5~~~~We missed Mass last night, so we went to Mass this morning before heading over to the Casino to meet Gary, so he and Kent can work on their Super Bowl bets they are betting. We got the arm bracelets to get us into the big screen room to watch the game, the screen there is so big, I can't guess how many feet tall and wide it is. I tried to tell the boys to bet on the Giants because "Eli" is the best!!!! They wouldn't listen to me and they lost all their bet almost. I did win a little money on the slots that I played during the breaks of the game. We were both tired and ready to go home after the game was over. Monday 6~~~~Today is our last day here in Mesquite, so we met Gary for lunch and then the 3 of us went bowling in the alley in the Casino. Gary has lots of comp points to spend, so the guys bowled 4 games each and I bowled 2 games. I had my nook along as usual, so I read my book while they bowled. (when I wasn't cheering them on) LOL gary wants us to stay longer , but we must hit the road.

Wednesday 2~~~~Gary wants to go swimming today after we go out for breakfast. The temperature was around 49 degrees and I told Kent I thought they were crazy to think I wanted to swim in that cold weather. Kent said it was a heated pool and he was sure it would be warm enough. Gary said he would bring the towels, just meet him for breakfast, I preferred to have my own huge beach towel with it that cold. We ate a wonderful breakfast and we headed over to where the pool was and it was all yellow taped off for repairs and cleaning. I was OK with that!!! Then Gary said that was OK, we would go use the hot tubs!! I was getting uncomfortable with this now, as none of us were staying at this Inn, but I followed behind Kent and Gary into the building. Gary was off and talking to someone and I started reading some brochures to pass the time when this desk person asked Kent and I to fill out some paperwork. I pretended I didn't hear her and kept reading my brochure when Kent said I had to fill it out. I whispered to him that it was a very expensive place and we needed to go, when another worker came up and said, Mrs. Mosher, your massage is at 11:30 and yours Mr. Mosher is at 12:00. I looked at Kent and he was laughing because Gary had this all planned for us to spend the day at this spa and he paid with it with his casino comp points. He told Kent all about it and it was a surprise for me. The gave us our big fluffy robes and slippers and we spent time in the steam room then the jacuzzi and then to the quiet room where they had the most comfortable lounges with soft cozy blankets and pillows, fresh fruit, juices, water, hot tea and books to read. Of course I had my nook, so I curled up and read awhile and about fell asleep waiting for my massage. We spent a lot of time there before calling it a day. They gave us until 8 PM that night to use the Spa. I was so surprised that Gary did that for us, we will probably do it every time we go to Mesquite. Kent and Gary were in another Keno tournament that evening at 6:30, so I went home and had a quiet evening with Pepsi. It was a fun busy day for all of us.

Monday 30~~~~~We had a lovely breakfast buffet this morning before leaving for Mesquite, Nevada to visit our friend Gary who lives there. We both like the town even though all we do there is eat and gamble. Tuesday31~~~~Kent and Gary were in a Keno tournament this morning and I took my Nook along to read when I get bored with the slot machines. Kent got me it for my birthday and I just love it. I told him I didn't want one, but Kent's girls both have them, and they all three knew if I tried it, I would like it, they were right, I go nowhere with out my nook. I even bought a bigger purse that my Nook would fit into better. Kent won first place and Gary won third in the tournament, they had free dinner coupons for the buffet, so of course we ate a big meal there with pie and ice cream for dessert.
