February 13 through 17, 2012
Monday 13~~~~~We are leaving Vegas for West Covina, Ca. this morning. It was supposed to be real windy today and Kent was not crazy about driving against a wind storm. It really sucks your gas tank down real fast. Actually the wind wasn't that bad and we drove the 258 miles in good time. I made Jean Marie's meat loaf recipe for dinner tonight and it was so good, I will make it again. I took some pretty pictures of some nasty looking dark clouds that looked like a real storm brewing, and it didn't. YEA!!!! Tuesday 14~~~~Happy Valentines Day!!!! We didn't go out for dinner, as we ate out so much in Vegas and Mesquite, we enjoyed eating at home tonight watching television together. Tomorrow we are driving into Los Angeles to see the Dr. Phil show again, we enjoyed it the last time we were here. Wednesday 14~~~~We got up real early to get ahead of the traffic this morning. The traffic was so bad it was bumper to bumper most of the way, I would not like to live here and drive in that mess every morning. We had VIP tickets for the Dr. Phil show this time, so we didn't have to stand in the long line, and I am glad we did, as it was cold, damp and windy. They do serve coffee to drink while you wait though. The first show they taped was a girl who was assaulted by her father from age 3 and that was a sad one, but the second show they taped was Erik Roberts (brother of Julie Roberts) for those of you who don't know him. It was a pretty good show about his recovery from drugs and ageing with his career in show business. His wife was kind of weird we thought. He seemed like a real nice guy. We drove around Beverly Hills after the show looking at the big houses, the we ate dinner at the IN and Out Burger place. They feed so many people there, it is well named, because you are truly In and Out real fast. The kitchen crew was real noisy and happy as we were leaving, so I asked the Mgr. what was going on and he said they were excited because they had broke their old drive through record of 58 to 62 cars served in one half hour. That is a lot of cars to do that fast, plus keeping the restaurant full all that time also. Thursday 16~~~~~Someone in Vegas told Kent about visiting the J Paul Getty Center in Santa Monica, so we researched it on the computer and thought it sounded like it would be something we would enjoy. Today we drove there and we really enjoyed it, It is hard imagine one man could have that much money to build such a beautiful place and have it filled with all the artwork art and leave money in a trust to run it forever. I kept thinking of my grand daughter Breanna who is studying art at Portland State and wishing she were there with us. I took a lot of pictures of the art work that I liked and some to show Bre. We were really tired from all that walking, we went through 3 of the 4 very large buildings. The architecture of the buildings is so neat, you just keep walking and you don't even realize that you have gone so far. They have a lot of chairs and benches to sit on and rest also. They have four different eating places to go to relax and eat. The museum has no admission fee, just $15 to park your vehicle , so it is a very inexpensive place to spend the day looking at art. When we finished up at the museum, we headed for home, stopping at Apple Bee's for dinner. The traffic was again bumper to bumper!!! Look it up on the computer and read all about J Paul Getty. He was an Oil tycoon and was considered the richest man in the world at one time. He left his two or three museums in a trust and they are flourishing very well. We might go to J.Paul Getty's Villa that is supposed to designed after a Villa in Europe. It to is very large and awesome. Friday 17~~~~Today we drove to Fullerton, California just a short distance down the road south where we will stay until Sunday or Monday.
