Friday May18~~~~~It sure was cold here at the park when we woke up this morning, we had to run the heater before we could get up and when it got warm enough for the heat pump, we let it run all day.. We had a sad experience this morning up at the compound where mama kitty and her three beautiful babies are living. Something (we think a Tom Cat) got into the building and killed one baby, hauled one off and little Magellan was laying there bleeding and unable to move. The poor mommy cat was just frantic, running around trying to find her one baby and she knew the others were dead or hurt. Krystal our office manager took Magellan to the vet near here and left him in his care. Magellan was really in bad shape, he was tore up pretty bad and needed a lot of stitches and more. The Vet kept him until late afternoon on Oxygen and IVs and then sent him back to the park. He said he thought he would make it if his lungs weren't damaged, that was nothing more they could do to fix him. We were so sad when Krystal called us that evening and said Magellan and gone to Kitty Heaven, his poor mommy is so lonely, so we will all go up there and pet her a lot and give her love. After all that commotion, we had a man and girlfriend  next to our space get into a big fight, someone called the police and when they arrived at their trailer, he took off through the park with the baby in a stroller, the cops were busy talking to the lady and the man didn't come back, so 12 of us hosts and rangers drove all over and down every trail, checking to find him. It was getting cold and dusk, when we gave up and the cops left with advise to the ranger what to do if he comes back and creates more trouble. Crazy day in the park!!!!  Saturday May 19~~~~It was cold again this morning when we got up, I sure do miss Arizona on these cold mornings. Kent worked in the office this morning until 1:00 PM. I only had 3 sites to clean and two of them were staying until the last minute of checkout time (!:00 PM) so Shelia and I drove into Mill City to go to the Art Festival they had going on there. It was kind of neat and I wished Bodie and Blaize were here to go to it. They had so much for kids to do there, food to eat,  plants to buy and all kinds of booths to shop at and a table full of free new books for children,  I got Bodie and Blaize each a nice book,  the ladies saw Shelia and I each had on our State Park vests, so they gave me two more free books on crafts for children that I can use to teach a craft class in the park again this year. A lot of people talked to us and said what good work we do and how much they love our park!!  We went to evening Mass and Kent bought chicken and Joe's to go at the market for dinner and that was about it for today.
Sunday  May 20~~~~ Kent worked in the office this morning, I had only 5 sites to clean, so went Kent finished at the office we got the blower and we took turns blowing off all the streets and the drive ways to the sites. We talked to the lady whose boy friend ran off with the baby on Friday and she said he went to his parents with the baby and she would get the baby tomorrow. A very strange situation we thought, you always feel sorry for the children in these messes. We are going into town this afternoon to start our 2 days off early. It is starting to sprinkle rain off and on. I love it up here in the park when it rains, the sound on the roof is so soothing and the trailer is so warm and cozy with the beauty of the forest right outside every window. I almost wish it wasn't our days off. We have both our vehicles at the park, so I left for town about 5 PM and Kent is coming later.  Monday 21~~~~Kent didn't get to come into town last night, he was needed at the park, He called me and told me, so I stopped and visited with my son Bill and Kallie, from there I stopped at Tress's house and visited them before heading on home. The house was so quiet without Kent and Pepsi there, I fixed my self a package of top ramon noodles for a late dinner and I went to bed early and read my book.

Tuesday May 15~~~~Today is the day we check in at Fisherman's Bed park where we will be Camp Hosts again this year. My asthma and cold is still bad, and I really don't feel like going today, but duty calls and we are committed. We arrived at the park about 2PM and for some reason, we had a terrible time getting the 5th wheel level. When you plan to stay in one place for 3 months,  you want it perfectly level. I think it was because I didn't feel good and wasn't my usual perky self and I wasn't thinking good. I am the level expert and Kent is the driver and it works good that way. After we finally got it level, Kent went to hook up our dish Network and found someone had discovered the PVC pipe he had buried with our cable the last two years was missing, someone had dug it up and took the 20 some feet of cable and threw the PVC pipe into the shrubs. Our site is rented as a regular site when we are not hosting here and why someone would find it and do that is crazy. Kent had another long piece if cable, so we were soon done setting up and settled in watching TV and eating dinner.
Wednesday May 16~~~~Today is Kent's 70th birthday and he doesn't look a day over 60 I think. Our friends Cyndi and Howie in Yuma have a NuWave infrared oven grill that sits on the counter that cooks so good, Kent has been looking at them in the stores, so I surprised him with one for his birthday. This grill will cook a 10#  frozen turkey in 2 and 1/2 hours. We buy so much turkey lunch meat, we are  looking forward to cooking a turkey in our new grill. Cyndi likes her grill because she always forgets to thaw out meat and you can cook it frozen so fast in this grill and the flavor and juices are great. We baked one of our frozen apple pies that Kent bought on Groupon and it was soooooooooooo good!!!!!!!!! We baked it frozen and it was great. Wednesday May 17~~~~~The mice are real bad this year we were told, so Kent put steel wool in all the places one might try and get in today. Someone gave the park a beautiful multi colored cat who is said to be a real mouser who has 3 little baby kittens and they live up in the office compound where all of us go to sort recycle, do laundry and  all kinds of things. We all stop and play with the kitties and pet the mommie and see that they are fed and watered good.We are finding home for the two female kittens and we are going to keep the little orange male one. Khrystal named him "Magellan"  because he is such an explorer. They are so fun and so tiny to play with and hold. I fixed BBQ ribs (frozen) tonight on the top rack and I fixed one half of a squash and some sliced baked potatoes in a dish in the bottom,  I put it all in at one time and it was so easy and good. My kitchen didn't even get dirty.

Saturday May 12~~~~This morning we drove to Portland-Vancouver to visit our friends Charlie and Mary. Mary and I are old friends going back a lot of years when we were both married to a bread man. We are both remarried to wonderful men and have reconnected with each other. Mary spent thanksgiving with us this year and we had so much fun, so now we are going to meet Charlie and see their new house. We met at a neat restaurant  called "Billygans" where we had a great lunch before driving over to see their home. Their home is so lovely, I told Mary I was almost envious of her. LOL    After a nice long visit, we headed home, stopping to see our friend Gary  before he heads back to Mesquite, Nevada. We always have fun with Gary when we travel South and when he travels North. I have caught a cold and am miserable with my asthma and bronchitis, so I was very tired when we arrived back home. Sunday May 13~~~Today is Mothers Day and I get to spend the afternoon with my children and Kent. We have been on the road for 4 years, and I really missed this special day without my family around me. Due to just getting  home, I needed to do a lot of work on having my deck ready for my gang to have dinner on. Billy had cleaned the grill and cleaned the lower deck, so that made it easier. I set up tree tables and I put my pretty cloths on them that I made years ago, we got out our fan that hooks onto a water hose and blows mist across the deck to cool you while you are sitting around on a hot day!
I got out the wahoo board and set it up on another table where we took turns playing the game while others visited. I got out the game cards, but no one used them, they had a lot of visiting  to catch up on I guess. The food was great, Tress made two London broils, Pammy a rice dish, Lisa potato salad and hot bread, Jean Marie deviled eggs, Billy watermelon and a gallon of home made ice cream and myself a chocolate cake to eat with the ice cream. the girls helped clean up the dishes and the guys put away all the chairs and tables in the shed until another fun get together. Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's reading this!!!!

Thursday May 10~~~~This has been a busy week helping Tress pick up the kids from school and posting pictures in our book we are making on the computer. Kent bought it on the computer on Groupon  while we were down south. We forgot about it and now we are near the deadline of losing it if we don't have it completed by Tuesday for printing. Ray has his last baseball game this afternoon, so we are driving over to Mt Angel to watch him play. It is a little windy and chilly today, but perfect for baseball. They won the game by about 20 points and it was a pretty good game, as the bases were loaded all the time, the other team  just couldn't get their runners in. After the game, we joined the Benson's for dinner at the 'Wooden Nickel", the food there is always very good. Next we headed home to work on our picture book, we finished it up about 10:30 PM and hit the send button on the computer to send it to the publisher. Yea!!!!   Friday 11th~~~~~Kent drove to Portland today to go to one of Nate's games, they have won every game this season and we are very proud of them too. My grand daughter Breanna who lives in Portland and goes to Portland State came home to go to her sister's  last soft ball game. Her dad dropped her off at my house, we had about a half hour by ourselves to visit and play a game of wahoo (which she won) before we left for Kallie's game. After the game (they lost) we all headed back to my house where Bre, Kallie and Shelby helped me make tacos for dinner then we retired to the living room where we had a nice long visit.

May 4 & 5, 6, 2012

Friday May 4~~~~Today I spent the morning at Jean Marie's house helping her clean shrimp and chop vegetables for the shrimp creole she is making for the dinner party celebrating Pam and Jeff's 30th wedding anniversary tomorrow. Shelby and Durago were supposed to clean the shrimp but they stayed up too late the night before and were too tired. I cut up a lot of veggies for a couple of veggie trays and helped Jean Marie clean the shrimp. Good thing us grandma's stay in good shape!! Kent went to Portland again today  so I was free to help. I think Jean Marie is making enough shrimp creole to feed an army., Lisa is bringing  salad, Bill and Maggie french bread, Tress dips and spreads and breads so it will be nice. With the new deck all done it sure will look nice with plenty of seating for everyone inside and out. I have three round patio tables with cloths for them and 12 chairs and Pammy got a new patio set, so we have plenty of seating. We also might set up banquet tables and chairs inside the house for 40 people in case we get some typical Oregon rain or sprinkles.
Saturday May 5~~~~The party started at 4:30, so I went over there early to help set the last minute things up and we did set up tables and chairs inside as it is a little chilly outside, no rain though!! YEA!!!!!  They had a nice bar set up on the deck and Tress's dips and spreads with different breads and the veggies to munch on.were very good. Tress takes a lot of cooking classes and she is always making something new for us to taste. It was fun to see some of their old classmates who I used to see so much years ago. The dinner was great and we all took home cartons of Creole, rice, bread and salad!!  Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary and we both almost forgot it with all the hub bub of Pam and Jeff's party. We all had a lot of fun, Jeff has a neat juke box and a pin ball machine in his family room, so no one was bored.  . Sunday May 6~~~~We  made plans to go to the casino this morning after Mass with our friend Gary before we remembered it was our anniversary, so why not do what we enjoy a lot, with our friend we enjoy so much, we went to the casino!!  I ran into my friends I used to work with at the beauty shop (Pat and Nancy) and visited with them. I played one machine that kept me going the whole time I was there and I won $40 on it. I got tired of the same old thing, so I left my machine and spent $20 in a few minutes on the others. It was a fun day and it sure didn't seem like it was 6 years ago that we got married.
