On The Road Again! January 20th through January 27th 2016
Santa bought us new computer for Christmas, so I had better get going on a new blog of our travels. We were late getting on the road this year because of Dr. and dentist appointments and other things that slowed us down. We are finding that getting older has its disadvantages, there is more up keep, kind of like an old car, you have to do more to keep it running. The advantages are that you have all the time in the world to do things or you can choose not to do things till you want to. That is one of Kent's problems, he puts getting things done as we have plenty of time to do it and then at the last minute we don't get it done. I caught a bad cold a few days before we were ready to leave and I still have it. I think one more week and I will be up and running.

We got up early and started loading the motor home. We have to take warm and cold clothes. Thresa and the kids stopped in for a few minutes on their way home from school to say goodby. We finally finished up about 5 PM and off we headed to Eugene where we are spending the night at Kim and Mikes house. We stopped at the Burger Basket on our way out of town to get a burger, it is Kent's favorite place to eat a burger. We arrived there about 7PM and we had a nice evening together, Kim and I went in the living room and drank tea and visited while the guys watched a movie in the family room. We spent the night in our motorhome.
Thursday January 21: Florence, Oregon and Canyonville, Oregon
This morning I gave Kim and Mathew haircuts and Mike and Kent went for a sightseeing drive, we left here about 3PM heading for Florence, Oregon to spend the night.
Friday January 22: We got a late start this morning, I was awake a lot last night coughing. Not feeling so good. We arrived in Canyonville at the Seven Feathers casino after dark, it has poured down rain everyday since we left home. That is good though because it is so dry all over here. We are staying in the dry camping area and there aren't very many RVers here. We love having a built in generator where we can start it and have TV and heat. It sure saves on the pocket book. Pammy and Kim gave me a sack of good books, so I am all taken care of.
Saturday January 23: Seven Feathers Casino Canyonville, Oregon
We ate dinner in the Casino and I finally slept better last night. After breakfast, I went back to bed and fell right to sleep, this constant coughing just wears me out. Kent went over to the casino and played the slots for awhile and had the buffet lunch before coming home. I slept the whole time. We called the shuttle in the evening and we spent a little time in the casino before going home to bed. It is rain, rain and more rain here, I really love the sound of it on the roof of the motor home while we sleep, so peaceful!
Sunday January 24: Yreka, Ca.
| Our Friend Sue |
Woke up to a light mist, we had to fill up our water tanks, glad it wasn't pouring down rain. We went through Grants Pass, stopping at Medford, we bought fuel at Fred Meyer here and it was $1.69 a gallon. Kent was all excited over that. There is snow all over the mountains here, the pass was clear and we had no trouble. We stopped at Star Bucks in Yreka, Calif. Here we met a family friend Sue here, we treated her to a star bucks coffee and we up dated our phones and I pads and Kent showed Sue how to do hers. She goes there for coffee every day on her morning walk. What a great visit we had with Sue, but soon it was time to hit the road again heading to Corning where we will be spending the night at the Rolling Hills Casino.
Monday January 25: Corning, California
Today is Thresa's birthday!!! I tried to send her a singing, dancing birthday card with 3 cute frogs in a band. I went through all the steps to send it and they said they used up all they could send today, try tomorrow!!!!It DARN, THAT WAS NOT FUNNY!!!! Near Sacramento,we stopped at a new (to us) Casino that Kent had read about. It is called "Thunder Valley Casino". We dry camped in the Casino parking lot across the road where the truckers and big RVs park. They have a phone number to call and they come and pick you up. We ate dinner and donated $20 to the slots. I am coughing so much and feel tired from it all, so we didn't stay long. Back to the motorhome to my good book and warm bed. LOL
Tuesday January 26: Wednesday Near Sacramento, California
We slept in late and we decided to spend another night here resting up. This evening we went back to the casino Thunder Valley and we played the slots awhile and Kent won. Back to the camper to watch TV, read my book and start writing on my blog. Back on the road tomorrow.
Wednesday January 27: Bakersfield, Ca.
Today is Willian's birthday!! Happy birthday William! We are driving as far as Bakersfield Ca. We stayed at a neat campground called the "Desert Palms" we filled our water tanks and dumped our tanks. This park was a Passport America Park and it only cost $15 a night. We camped by a neat lady who is new to RVing, she has the neatest motor home ever. She is sure a brave woman to drive that motor home and park it and do all the things herself. Kent gave her a lot of ideas about things we had to learn when we started out. We hope to run into her again. I cooked a good meal in the motor home tonight. No casino, just TV and our I Pads. I have a neat crossword puzzle that I spend a lot of time figuring it out. I like this town where the Crystal Palace is and the streets are all named after the famous county singers who started out here. I sure would love to run into Dwight Yokum on the "Streets of Bakersfield" here.. He and Buck Owens are still two of my old time favorites.
