Forest City, Iowa August 16, 17 & 18, 2016
Tuesday August 16, 2016 Today we didn't do much, went on a few walks since we have been here, but it is too hot today to do very much. I fixed Kent his favorite meal tonight, Hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes and creamed cucumbers. The weather is starting to get dark clouds in the sky and I think we are in for a lot of rain and thunder and lightning again tonight. I am going to bed early because I don't like to see it flashing. Kent is sitting up, listening to the weather channel. They were calling the storm, severe thunder storms!!! We know where to go in the park if necessary.
I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. All of a sudden I wake up hearing this big boom and the motorhome shook, I sat up in bed thinking someone had run into our motorhome. I yelled at Kent and he said it was OK, it was just a big boom of thunder. We had several more of them and then the thunder quieted and the lightning continued for quite awhile. It was a continuous flashing in the sky. I haven't seen anything like that in years and Kent said he wouldn't live back here for any amount of money. LOL
Wednesday August 17, 2016 Winnebago called us this morning to bring the motor home in at 9:30AM. We were told to be ready each morning for a phone call when they have an opening as they don't give many actual appointments. We were up and almost ready when they called. I threw some fruit and snacks in a bag along with both our I Pads and the laptop and our phones, we knew we would be there until 3:30PM as the shop closes then. They didn't get much done on our motorhome, so we will probably be back in the morning at 7AM. John and Linda, our friends who are traveling with us brought their fast track board over to the waiting room and we played many games and drank lots of coffee. Pepsi was such a good kitty, we put his blanket in a plastic tub that we use for storage and he liked it because he can lay there and see through the plastic and everyone stops and pets him and talks to him, He really likes all the attention.
Thursday August 18, 2016 We had another appointment at 7AM again this morning. I fixed us a couple of sandwiches an apple each for lunch and some bakery rolls for breakfast. They have lots of fresh coffee there to drink. We didn't get our table this morning that we like to sit at and we put Pepsi's tub and a chair beside us. Two ladies had the tables, so we sat on a sofa which pepsi didn't like because it was against the wall and he couldn't see his fans as easy. Twice he tried to jump out of it, he has never done that before. John and Linda showed up again with the game board and while we were playing a game, they got a call that they had a opening for them to get in this morning, so they went and parked their motor home in the parking for RV's and came back to our game. it was about 9:00 AM. They have a few small things to be done on their Navion and it will be done today. We were very happy when our mechanic came to us and said he had our motor home finished. It was several minor things, like 2 drawers that keep opening up as we go down the road and come off the track, the calking around our shower was done very poorly, something with the generator and the coach door some work on the seal and a leak in the basement compartment. We were happy that both of us finished up today and we can get back on the road..
Tomorrow we are headed for Des Moines, Iowa to eat at the restaurant we ate at on our way through. They all want a ruben sandwich like the one I had. Then on our way to Omaha to spend the night, still haven't decided on a park for the night. I was awake at 4 AM this morning and said all my prayers 3 times and then I got up and read until Kent's alarm went off. So I am pretty tired, it has been a long day. Tomorrow we are back on the road again.
