Minden, Nebraska Saturday August 19, 20,21,

       August 19, 2016    Friday      We are headed to visit my sister and her husband in Minden, Nebraska. We drove as far as a county park in Avoca, Iowa. It was an other nasty dark pour down rain day and night. We were the only ones in the park,  after dinner we played our board game and headed to bed to be ready for our drive to Minden.  Our friends are heading to visit a few places they want to see in the area, while we visit my sister's family for a few days. They were on the road before us as usual and we are headed to Minden.

       August 20, 2016   Saturday   We drove all day and we arrived in Minden in time to go to 4:30 Mass at St. John the Baptist Church. They have a real neat priest and we enjoyed his service. After Mass we drove to their house a few blocks from the church. where they were waiting to see us. They had a delicious beef soup and salads all ready for us to eat. We sat up for quite awhile visiting, and catching up on each others families. We parked our motorhome in their back yard and it was nice being so close and I could run in the house for morning coffee in my bath robe. They have a lot of birds that wake you in the morning with their beautiful songs they sing, the Doves, I call them the hoo hoo birds because that is what they do all day is call hoo hoo from all over the yards. They have a lot of them and a lot of Red Cardinals. The cardinals sing so pretty, it is a joy to wake up to their music and they sing all day from high up in the trees. I walked around the yard several times spotting them in the tall trees they have in their yard.

           Kent read on his computer this morning that Springfield,  Illinois where we stayed in a camp ground at the fairgrounds while we were there had a terrible rain storm. They got 5.5 inches of rain the day after we left and 54 campers were flooded and were uninhabitable to be in. We were so glad we weren't there, it is a great place to stay and we have stayed thee several times.
        August 21,  Sunday..  Bob was up early this morning he had put ribs in the oven for dinner today. They both are such great cooks, we will probably gain a few pounds staying here. Mindy came over for a short visit and went home to get her beans baked ready for dinner today. We got to meet her friend Erin and we think he is a pretty nice guy. We set up a big table in Mindy's garage to eat there as it is hard to get Macy and her wheel chair over to Bob and Jan's, up the stairs and such. Mindy has a TV in her  garage and one on her patio, so it is nice to watch the games and whatever out there,  while we visit. She also has three new cats from the same litter, they were very entertaining with their leashes on them and are staked to the ground and can't go too far. The dinner was fantastic, the ribs were to die for. I am going to try cooking them the way Bob does when we get home. We had so much food, Jan made several great salads,  and Mindy's beans.

       August 23, 2016 Tuesday   Today Bob and Kent drove to Kearney to get some things they needed at the Menards Store. I did our laundry and visited with Jan, The time goes so fast when we are together. We are leaving tomorrow to meet up with our friends and we will be working our way towards Oregon. Bob and Jan fixed another wonderful meal for us tonight, Mindy and I skewered jumbo shrimp they got from Mike,  Bob grilled them on the grill, they were  sooooo  good!!  Jan fixed salads and we had a great dinner. We spent the evening visiting and playing scrabble on the computer with Viv! I played my word Brain game in-between the scrabble words.  We will be leaving in he morning. It will be heard to leave as we aren't getting any younger and we live so far apart. I am so proud of all the weight my sister has lost, she looks so good. I think I might try to loose some myself when I get home. I did say might didn't I?????  LOL
